Dario produces directors’ chairs with leather seats and backs, and uses environmentally-friendly vegetable-tanned Italian hides of the highest quality. The frames are made from high-quality teak, ash or beech, with galvanized steel or brass fixings.
Easy to fold, they are small enough to send easily anywhere in the world or to take with you on your flight home from Rome.
Design
The design of the folding base of the director’s chair can be traced back to before Roman times. The two crossing legs with a pin at the centre allow the legs to move and collapse against each other. This mechanism was the basis of the design of the sella curulis—a stool that the Romans used as a “seat of honour”.
Fast-forward a couple of thousand years and the seat of honour on any film-set is reserved for the director. With its leather back and comfortable arms, the director’s chair is a superb chair for relaxing.
